James Pentecost, a product of the small farming county of Cornwall, England, came to Australia in much the same way as he came to film making, young and slightly terrified.
His first passion in entertainment was writing, winning several short story and poetry awards as a child before discovering the heady world of acting as a precocious teen. James acted in several short films and many amateur theatre productions before returning to writing as a playwright, occasionally directing his own theatre productions and gaining a taste for shaping powerful stories.
Finally, wooed by the heady aroma of the film world and with a desire to bring his stories to a bigger audience, James completed a Bachelor of Screen Production, graduating with a litany of self-produced short films and a thirst for more.
Since this, he has worked on numerous film productions, both short and feature, in various production roles. In between this, he produced, directed and co-wrote his own web series, ‘Please Enjoy!’ (2011, James Pentecost), became a finalist at Rottofest 2011 with short film ‘Looking Ridiculously Good For His Age Man’ (2010, James Pentecost) and produced the award winning short ‘Manu Marmont’ (2012, Hayden Fortescue)
In 2011 James wrote, produced and directed his first low budget feature film, ‘Twisted Minds’ (2013, James Pentecost). Starring John Howard (All Saints, Seachange) and Kyle Morrison (Lockie Leonard, The Craic), the film is scheduled for release in early 2014 in several territories worldwide.
Most recently, he has co-directed, written and produced VCR Media’s interactive web series ‘Chinchilla Hunt’ (2014, James Pentecost/Hayden Fortescue).
James also enjoys running, reading and inventing new words in his spare time.
